Case study 3 – Optimisation of bioprocesses

Since setting up the demonstration for organic acid production by way of unsterile process modes the UFZ is working on optimizing the bioprocess. The results for the AcoD using biomass from the yeast-based citric acid production are promising and validation of the results will be completed by the end of the project.

Organic acid production and anaerobic co-digestion processes have reached the expected results in terms of production of organic acid and biogas in the bioreactor.

The organic acid production will be optimized by way of sequencing yeast growth and production. This new process mode will be transferred to demo scale by June 2019.
